Tulum cenotes

Tulum sits on the southern edge of the Riviera Maya and the cenotes around it are some of the most photographed in Mexico. Gran Cenote, Dos Ojos, Calavera (Temple of Doom) and Cenote Carwash are all within a 15 minute drive from town. Most have dramatic rock formations, cavern roofs and crystal water with snorkel routes.

Riviera Maya cenotes (Playa del Carmen area)

The Riviera Maya stretch between Playa del Carmen and Tulum is dotted with open swim cenotes that are wider and shallower than Tulum’s. Cenote Azul, Cristalino, Jardin del Eden and Chikin Ha are the four best known. Less dramatic but easier with kids and a great half day from Playa.
